September 2008 - Denver trip

We finally got to really celebrate Ty's birthday in Denver last weekend. It was a ton of fun and he had such a good time at the concert and spending time with his cousins. We all had a lot of fun. Foo Fighters were really good. They are awesome performers. Anyway, here are a bunch of pics from the trip. We went to a Rockies game right when we got to Denver (Sat. Night). Ty, Ben, and Tom enjoying the game. Jim Ty Leaving the game :( Tom, Jim, Ben and Ty Sunday... This is a picture of the "Camels kissing" in the Valley of the Gods in Colorado Springs, one of our stops with Tom and his family. This is a chipmunk that I fed a piece of our corn nuts as we entered the Seven Falls park. Jim drooling at the sight of a bunch of big rainbow trout that he can't fish. This is at the bottom of the first set of falls. Ben & Ty Tom & Sharon (this was up the first set of stairs that we had to climb to get to the top of the falls...over 250) Tom, Ben, Ty & Jim (up the 2nd set of stairs) Tom, Ben, Jim, Sharon, Donell, and Ty on the top of the mountain after the stairs and a hike. Beautiful view of Colorado Springs. Monday before the concert in Denver... We did a bunch more stairs and checked out this shrine of Mother Cabrini (a Catholic shrine). It was pretty neat and it had a cool view of Denver - more the country side though. Jim checking out a bunch of deer right by the shrine. Jim heading back down the stairs. Ty ahead of us on his way down. There were cool mosaic tiles of Christ all the way up. Ty standing at the top of a Mountain in Denver by Buffalo Bill's grave. Ty, Jim and Donell in the hills near the grave Here are a few pics of some of the elk we saw along the road between The shrine and the grave. Beautiful area! ************ FINALLY...the concert! So, after several hikes up stairs and mountains, we got to do it again to the concert. It was at the Red Rocks Ampitheater. Awesome place! You have to hike/walk a ways to get to it and you're in the rocks. This is Jim and Ty on there way!! Donell, Jim, and Ty at the top of the ampitheater before the concert started. Ty & Jim waiting for it to start! Ty still waiting!! (with the cool rocks surrounding us) FINALLY!!! It started. This is the opening song. (Our camera doesn't have the best audio...probably because it was sooooo loud!)

Here are a few pics of the band.
Dave Grohl (singer, rhythm), Taylor Hawkins (drums) and Nate Mendel (bass) This is great...check out their hair. They were really getting into it! Chris Shiflett (lead guitar) Here a few more videos. The audio on the one is horrible, but lights and everything are cool, so I put it on. FUN!!
